REIMANN thomas

Statement

Thomas Reimann – set sail again and again

Thomas Reimann met Dresden artist Rudolf Nehmer in 1970, who encouraged him to start studies in arts and crafts. He studied textile design with Prof. Mahn-Diedering at the University of Art and Design Halle-Burg-Giebichenstein, then switched to glass / porcelain / ceramics, because he was more interested in more solid materials. In 1992 and 1995 he had important encounters with Erwin Eisch, became his student and returned to Dresden freed from "design dogmas". He works with a focus on sculpture in wood, metal, stone and above all with the beloved material - glass. One of Reimann's specialties is his unique graphic technique BOROC - prints in combination with melted stone threads. From 2001 to 2015 he had his own exhibition workshop in Stolpen Castle. His works can be found worldwide in private collections and public spaces. The most famous sculptures in Germany are the Brigitte-Reimann-Monument and the "Laptopper". A large number of solo and group exhibitions since 1985 bear witness to the artist's lively spirit. Thomas Reimann is also a networker "on the side", has initiated several artist groups and is one of the fathers of NEW Art Dresden.
